It’s not often I get to shoot home anymore, but I’m so glad I got to do so for Sarah & Jonathan’s Florida beach wedding. This was a Catholic-Jewish wedding and for me there is something extra special about that. Every time I witness and multi-racial, multi-cultural or multi-religious wedding my heart jumps, because love won. Love may not have won everyone over, but I am seeing this more and more, and what this says to me is that love was greater than the most entrenched of human traditions. Color, culture and religion did not get in the way of love. Love was stronger than all of that. It won. Nothing gives me more hope for humanity than that.
They were also some of the sweetest people, as were their families. Did I mention this was taking place on my birthday? When one of them found out he made it his job to go around to everyone and tell them, so they would wish it to me. All night long I had people coming up to me, hugging me and wishing me happy birthday. Later in the evening during the reception, they sang it to me as they encircled me, smiling and dancing around me. THREE times they did this!! I felt so incredibly loved and like part of the family. I can’t think of a better way to spend my birthday. So congratulations Sarah & Jonathan! Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your day!
